With reference to my previous posts we have now known what social media is and the different examples of it, in this post you will have the opportunity to understand a bit more of one example of Social media- Blogging.
So… What is blogging? And what is the role of blogging in social media?
I have found a very interesting video on Youtube explaining a bit more about what is a blog and I thought I share it with you to start with it. I also found it as very useful to me, as it’s the first blog that I’ve ever created… I hope you will like it as much as I did 🙂
To highlight what was said in the video below, blog is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web (Web 2.0) and consist of discrete entries, posts, typically displayed in reverse sequential order with usually the most recent post appears first. Although it sounds easy, we need to understand a bit more of the complexity of a blog. We need to understand first what Web 2.0 is and the importance of it in the whole Social Media.
Web 2.0 originated at a 2001 conference brainstorming session between O’Reilly Publications and MediaLive International (O’Reilly, 2005). It generally refers to a grouping of capabilities, technology, business models and philosophies which allows people to interact with each other in the social media.

Basically, it is an application that allows people to participate in the sharing of information, creation, digital resources and webpage design. Everything that comes to our minds when we think about social media, including Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Flickr, WordPress, Blogger and all types of social media that interacts with people belongs to WEB 2.0 application, an example of it is Google and Amazon.com both exemplify Web 2.0, as these companies do not sell software licences, because software is not their product. Instead, they provide software as a service.
Terminology of a Blog:
Blog (noun) – a journal or diary that is on the Internet.
Blogger (noun) – a person who keeps a blog – Bloggers are revolutionizing the way news is shared.
Blog (verb) – to write a blog – I am going to blog before breakfast this morning.
Blogging (verb) – the action of writing a blog – Blogging is my way of sharing my passions with the world.
It appears therefore that blogging and its main initials are used to provide a unique way for people to share their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and opinions although in today’s work it plays an important role in social media not only among individual users but also for businesses as it helps in better and faster crawling of site and new posts. Consumers like related things. They want to feel like their favorite brand or company is real and actual real humans work, using keywords and writing a blog allow companies to be easier to find when searched for online.
Since the time I started this blog I have been searching for many others and so far I am having an amazing experience with it, especially browsing around others student’s blogs and I have been learning a lot in an interesting way.
What about you? What are you finding interesting about blogging? Are you enjoying it as much as I am? What is the role of blogging for you?
